Board your cruise ship in Régua and spend two unhurried hours travelling upstream on the Douro River, passing through the Bagauste Dam lock and drifting past centuries of wine history. An audio guide narrates the journey with local stories and ambient music while the valley unfolds around you. In Pinhão, a short guided walk leads through one of the Douro’s most beloved villages before a light tapas dinner — regional cheese, sausage, homemade jams, olives, Douro olive oil and bread — is served at a scenic viewpoint with river views.
