Madeira 4x4 tour with ecological park visit and local tastings 3/4D

Start with a reforestation activity at Parque Ecológico do Funchal, supporting the island’s biodiversity. (October until April) In the remaining season you’ll learn about the indigenous fauna and flora of Madeira in the Interpretation Centre of the Ecological Park with some videos, pictures and information posters. (May to September) Explore hidden trails in Santo da Serra on an exciting off-road experience, followed by a serene Levada walk** to discover Madeira’s historic irrigation system. Immerse yourself in Madeira’s flavors and traditions at a Traditional Madeiran Bar. Drive through Ribeira Machico and enjoy the stunning terraced farmlands that showcase the agricultural heritage of this unique island.

Our adventure begins at the Parque Ecológico do Funchal, an emblem of our Biosphere Certification and commitment to educational, sustainable, and responsible tourism. Here, you’ll participate in a meaningful reforestation activity, planting native trees and helping to restore the island’s delicate ecosystem. This experience highlights the importance of preserving Madeira’s unique biodiversity.
Afterwards, we continue to Santo da Serra for an unforgettable off-road adventure, taking you through hidden trails and offering breathtaking views of Madeira’s lush countryside. After the off-road experience, enjoy a peaceful walk along the Levada Serra do Faial, bordered by dense vegetation and gently flowing streams, a remarkable irrigation system that has sustained local agriculture for centuries. This journey offers a deeper understanding of the island’s unique relationship with water and nature. (According to the weather conditions we might change to Paradise Valley Levada walk).

Next, we make a delightful pause at a traditional Madeiran bar, where you’ll have the chance to experience the island’s warm hospitality. The objective is not only to taste local flavors, but also to enjoy the true spirit of a Madeiran Arraial, feeling like a local for a day. Here, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing, locally crafted sidra originally made in Santo da Serra, served together with a small portion of carne vinha d’alhos (marinated pork with wine, garlic, and aromatic herbs), a traditional delicacy slow-cooked over a wood fire. After this, get ready to taste the famous Sopa de Trigo (wheat soup), considered the oldest traditional soup in Madeira, also prepared over a wood fire, accompanied by a glass of red wine. (Vegetarian option also available) This experience will be topped off with the participation of Mrs.Alexandra, who will entertain with the Fado and Madeiran Folklore music (Bailinho da Madeira), allowing guests to participate and create unforgettable memories (included).
From there, we drive towards Ribeira de Machico, a valley known for its impressive views of Madeira’s terraced farming system, showcasing the effort of the locals along the years in order to grow their vegetables and fruits. These ingenious terraces reveal the deep relationship between the Madeirans and their land. A living testament to generations of hard work and sustainable practices.
Join us for a journey that weaves together nature, tradition, and sustainability, leaving you with memories as rich and vibrant as Madeira itself.
