About

Did you know that in Fátima there is a sanctuary twice the size of St Peter’s Square in the Vatican? This and much more on a half-day guided visit to Portugal’s religious capital.

The Tour:
Meet your new “best friend” at the door of your accommodation to begin this new journey – sit back and relax as you travel to the centre of Portugal and hear all about the region.

1- Fátima – 150 km north of Lisbon we arrive at our destination: Portugal’s religious capital! In Fátima you will spend your time exploring the place, such as visiting the Chapel of the Apparitions where you can see the stone that marks the spot where the Virgin Mary appeared, the Sanctuary which is twice the size of St Peter’s Square in the Vatican, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima; absorb this religious atmosphere and serenity that so characterises this place. Our guide will give you time and space to enjoy the view, but of course will provide you with all the important information and everything you want and need to know about Fátima and Portuguese religious traditions.

In 1917 a religious event changed the history of this place forever, when three young shepherds witnessed a succession of apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima, making Fátima an important historic landmark in devotion to Mary, attracting pilgrims from all over the world. On the other side of the Sanctuary of Fátima is the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity – built in 2007, it is a wonderful modern piece of architecture, with no interior supports and a total capacity for around 8,700 people.

2 – We leave the Sanctuary of Fátima, but our tour is not over yet!

To make this day even more complete, we take you to a small local village, 2 km away, where the Three Little Shepherds were born and lived!

You will get a real insight into their lives and customs and thus a better context for this story and the importance of this place.

Fátima is a landmark, not only for the history of Portugal, but also for Catholic devotion worldwide – undoubtedly a place not to be missed, so let us take you there!
