Sunset Hike, Tapas & Wine at Secret Beach
THIS JOURNEY IS FOR Adventurous sunset lovers who want sand between their toes, salt in their hair and wine in their belly. No trip to Portugal is complete without watching the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. The natural beauty of our countrys coastline is breathtaking on its own, but everythings better with delicious wine and food. So come with us to watch the sky turn warm shades of gold with sand between your toes, salty hair, wine in one hand and a sweet soundtrack adding to the atmosphere. Well pick you up in one of our legendary convertible jeeps and take a brief look at historic Sintras best sights and palaces before hitting our favourite forest tracks. These off-road, unmarked trails pop out on the coastline where well see the westernmost point of Europe the incredible cliffs of Cabo da Roca and our sunset journey begins. Our secret beach is a short hike away. The dirt hiking trail twists and turns along a steep route but its only about half an hour to get down to the sand. Make sure you bring proper shoes for this part! Flip flops/thongs/jandals/foot wedgies (or whatever you call those rubber-toe-shoes in your country) wont make the cut. Once we reach the soft, golden sand just relax. Well set up a picnic spread of traditional Portuguese petiscos (thats our word for tapas) stacked full of cheese, chouriço (chorizo), bread and other snacks. You can swim in the salty ocean, kick a ball on the sand, or just sit back with a few glasses of local wine and appreciate the stunning sunset. With stunning cliffs and rock formations, you might have 99 problems, but a beach aint one. This is our most popular hiking experience for good reason. In one afternoon you can enjoy the best of Portugals stunning coastline, taste local Portuguese food and wine and go off-road in Sintras mysterious forests. Since it is only a half day, you can combine it with one of our morning cultural journeys, which explore UNESCO World Heritage Sintra palaces and more. The hike to the beach can be challenging. If you do not bring correct footwear or are extremely unfit, our team may have to leave you at the jeep. For safety reasons this may be cancelled due to weather conditions. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know in advance.* HIGHLIGHTS Watch the sun set into the Atlantic Ocean with a wine in hand Hike down to our secret beach for a picnic on the sand Taste typical Portuguese tapas and drinks View Sintras palaces from the back of a restored convertible Portuguese 4×4 See the incredible cliffs of mainland Europes westernmost point, Cabo da Roca Take a Polaroid photo Hit secret off-road trails with our vintage jeeps Listen to sweet tunes all day long Finish in the fisherman village of Cascais Up to 7 people per jeep.
