Itinéraire

From Ponta Delgada we head to the south coast of the island. On the way, a stop at Vila Franca do Campo – the island’s first capital – where you can visit the factory of the famous Queijadas da Vila.

On arriving at the Furnas valley, beside the banks of the romantic lake, you can take part in the unearthing of the “cozido na caldeira”, which will be served for lunch.

After lunch, a visit to the caldeiras area, with fumaroles and thermal and mineral water springs, where you will have the chance to taste them. Ascent to the Pico do Ferro viewpoint, where you get a superb view over the crater that surrounds the Furnas valley.

Continuing along the north coast, visiting the tea factory, the only one of its kind in Europe, where you can enjoy the beautiful view over the tea plantation and north coast while savouring a cup of tea. On the way back to Ponta Delgada, a stop at the Santa Iria viewpoint, with an idyllic view over the island’s north coast
