Un aspetto generale di terreno umido erboso e paludoso, sempreverde, anche in pieno inverno. Estremadura e Ribatejo al massimo.<br \/>A Vila Franca de Xira pieghiamo a nord, ora con oliveti alternati a pini selvatici, altro bestiame, vigne, campi di girasoli e sughere che fiancheggiano entrambi i lati dell'autostrada, fino all'uscita sulla strada nazionale a due corsie che porta a Tomar, la rinomata citt\u00e0 templare.<br \/>Il primo ordine del giorno, naturalmente, sar\u00e0 visitare l'iconico e mundialmente famoso castello templare del XII secolo e il Convento, un peso massimo della storia, con le sue tipiche mura su strapiombo e il maschio rettangolare. Vi colpir\u00e0 il silenzio imponente del chiostro principale del Convento, dove il Medioevo gotico si trasform\u00f2 nel nazionalismo ornato manuelino e nel cosmopolitismo rinascimentale. La sala capitolare del Convento \u00e8 qualcosa di straordinario, e potreste riconoscerla, insieme al chiostro principale, dal film di Terry Gilliam uscito nel 2018, \"The Man Who Killed D. Quixote\", dove furono girate scene fondamentali.<br \/>Proseguimento verso l'Herdade dos Templ\u00e1rios (tenuta vinicola dei Templari), per una passeggiata guidata tra le vigne e la cantina e una degustazione di cinque vini abbinati a formaggi e pane locali, tutti artigianali. Un preparativo all'atmosfera per il pranzo, che sar\u00e0 in un ristorante la cui clientela \u00e8 quasi totalmente locale. Un pasto casalingo semplice, anche se non semplicistico, accompagnato da quello che il vostro palato vi chieder\u00e0. Il vino locale viene in mente, comunque.<br \/>Ben nutriti, partiamo per Almourol, un castello templare del XII secolo eretto su un isolotto di roccia granitica in mezzo al fiume Tago dal Maestro dell'Ordine D. Gualdim Pais, a un tiro di schiavo dalla riva sinistra, nel villaggio di Tancos, famoso per le sue caserme militari e il suo arsenale.
