Whaling Memories & Sounds of the Viola da Terra with Lunch included

This tour takes you to the heart of the culture and tradition of Flores.

We start at the Museu da Baleia (Sta Cruz das Flores) – where you will discover the history of whaling and the importance of this activity in the lives of the local communities.

We then head to the Centro de Interpretação Ambiental do Boqueirão , a cultural, historical , and environmentally interesting space, with a focus on discovering everything from resident and migratory birds to the island’s cetaceans and hydrothermal vents.

A brief stop at the Vigia da Baleia before continuing to the next cultural encounter.

On arriving at Lajes, a place especially valued also for its whaling and naval history, we will make a brief visit to the naval club in the Porto das lajes area, where you can also learn a little more about the history.

At the pace of local history and culture, we will make a stop to enjoy the landscape of the south coast, a regional tea at the Cachalote bar, and traditional Flores music with the musician and maker of the famous violas da Terra – Mr Jose Agostinho Serpa.
