It&#8217;s famous for the Convent of Christ (Convento de Cristo), which is one of the finest national monuments in Portugal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tomar was the religious home of the Knights Templar (1119-1312) and later the Order of Christ (1319-1834).
